…I’m doing it.
I’ve not made a big commotion about this, which can actually tell you just how genuine it is, but after being out of high school for 10 years, and after writing about the subject on here a number of times, I’m finally pursuing an acting career.
I’m taking off in a bit to go shoot my first part in a stranger’s movie in 5 years (almost to the month). It’s a small role in a student movie, just a couple of shots with no dialogue, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t taken it seriously. As Nick Reiber pointed out months ago in a conversation we were having about my many Hollywood-hesitations, no matter how lousy a script might be or how small the role… I’m still Mark Mushakian, and I still put all my heart into a character and prepare as best I can. Last night, as I was piecing together the ideas, costuming, and back-story for this extremely minor character I’ll be playing today, I laughed to see his comment actually coming to fruition.
While a number of you have already heard of my new pursuit, I figured I’d make an official mention of it. I’m still trying to find a regular job, but now I’m searching for something part-time, with flexible hours, so that I can point most of my time and energy at what I’m really after… movies.
So, to the friends and strangers (and even myself) who have continually encouraged me to be doing this over the past 10 years, thanks… I’m finally listening.
