No, I didn’t get a new job… still working on that one. Monday night, though, I worked at Blockbuster as I do every week, hence the Behind The Counter label. Since most weeks I have absolutely nothing to do but checkout customers, I figured I would take that time this week and search through our used games – see if I could find anything cheap that I wanted for my new PS3. Rather quickly, though, my manager joined in, and eventually we were cleaning out the game cabinet. Organizing, not stealing ;-). It’s probably been about a year since that cabinet had been put in order, and I know that because I was the last one to do it, so it was a mess.
The point of all of this, though, was that I had forgotten how nice it is to actually work. For months, my only real project every day was to sell, sell, SELL (!!!).. which I never do, and I despise the harassment we get to do so – which makes me care to sell even less. I miss the days when more importance was placed on maintaining the store, working on projects that had value, and being able to go home at the end of the day feeling like I’d actually accomplished something. I got a glimpse of that again this past Monday evening, and while I don’t count on it happening again anytime soon, it certainly put me in the mood to do so. Now, even more than before, I’m very eager to find a good job in which I can find some value with what I do each day.
