Well, this is where a life-long pastime comes to fruition. I grew up making stop-motion movies. Legos, GI Joes, Godzilla, Barbies…they were my stars. Some of my most creative work making movies as a kid was on these stop-motion movies. Here I am, though, once again starting on this old well-worn path – and for the first time, I’m doing it properly.
The beginning of this production journal is not going to be very specific to the short, however. First, I have a lot of testing to do, but I think this is a perfect place. This is the first stop-motion movie I’ve made since I was about 14, and I’m finally putting the Legos aside, and dealing with wire, tie-downs, and other genuine stop-motion tricks of the trade. I have a very small amount of experience with these things (from simple tests I’ve done over the years), but for my first true outing into this world, I’m taking my time to prepare myself properly. The Creation isn’t going to be that intensive as far as stop-motion animation goes, so as soon as I reach the necessary level of technical skill, it will begin.
But, hey, it’ll be a process…and that’s part of the fun 🙂
