I think the opposite is true, too. I didn’t enjoy watching Citizen Kane, but when I then listened to the commentary by Roger Ebert, it was interesting to find out how certain things were done – or why. On the other end of the situation, I enjoy plenty of songs that aren’t any type of musical genius, and I’m aware of that.. they’re just fun :)

I’ll approve your comment and do a reply. I saw that as a first step in some thoughts around art, and of course individual taste will have to feature too. :) I do think though that it’s also possible to think something is really skillful or great, and still not like it (totally agree with you about Psycho too!!!!!)
It’ll be interesting to see how this conversation develops.
